UP sa Halalan
This extension project builds on the success of the UP System project “UP sa Halalan”, which was implemented by the Office of the Vice President for Public Affairs (OVPPA) during the 2013 and 2016 elections.
In 2019, the main UP unit that administered the extension work was the Department of Political Science of the College of Social Sciences and Philosophy (CSSP), University of the Philippines Diliman. Since then, the Department of Political Science has continued to administer UP as Halalan and its concurrent activities.
This extension project aims to build and enhance the network of academics, researchers, and stakeholders from the UP Community by providing the space and opportunities for public discussions leading to and/or during Philippine elections through a variety of organized events and fora.
UP sa Halalan’s web portal houses content related to Philippine politics and elections that is accessible to media outlets, civil society groups, political parties, and the public. The current iteration of UP sa Halalan focuses on raising awareness of the 2023 barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections and helping the Filipino people acknowledge their importance.
