Asst. Prof. Sol Iglesias recently published a UP Center for Integrative and Development Studies policy brief entitled, “Addressing the Pattern of Violence under the Duterte Administration’s “War on Drugs.”
What about other kinds of evidence establishing former President Rodrigo Duterte’s culpability for the mass violence in the “war on drugs”? This study by Dr. Sol Iglesias shows that the chances that these killings were somehow naturally occurring or a coincidence are very small, less than 5 out of 100. This policy paper includes recommended lines of questioning that investigators and prosecutors could use, whether in The Hague or the Philippines. It is based on a 2023 article in Asian Politics and Policy as well as her testimony to Congress last year.
