Danilo A. Reyes holds a PhD in Public and International Affairs at the City University of Hong Kong (CityU of HK) and Master of Laws in Human Rights at Hong Kong University (HKU). Before joining the Department of Political Science at University of the Philippines Diliman (UPD), he was a research and teaching staff at CityU of HK (2022-2024). Reyes developed his research on political violence while working for Asian Human Rights Commission (AHRC), a Hong Kong-based regional organization. Reyes carries with him 19 years of experience working in various civil society and non-government organisations in Hong Kong, and in the Philippines. Reyes’s research focuses on political violence in post-authoritarian regimes, notably the Philippines after the Marcos Sr. dictatorship. Reyes developed his research from his advocacy for protection of human rights and democracy in Asia since 2004. He is originally from Mindanao.
