Aletheia Kerygma B. Valenciano

Aletheia Kerygma B. Valenciano is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Political Science, University of the Philippines. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science (cum laude) from the University of the Philippines Diliman, and her Master of Arts in International Politics (Chinese Politics and Diplomacy) from Fudan University in Shanghai, China. Her thesis looked into the regional causes and domestic political conditions of China’s track 2 diplomacy in Southeast Asia. She was a recipient of the Chinese Government Scholarship from 2017 to 2019 for her master’s degree. During her graduate studies, she was also a teaching assistant for the graduate course on Contemporary Chinese Diplomacy.

In 2018, she was a visiting scholar at the China Institute of International Studies (CIIS), where she conducted research and fieldwork in Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangxi on China-ASEAN regional diplomacy.

She is currently the Managing Editor of Asian Politics & Policy, a peer-reviewed journal published by Wiley-Blackwell and the Policy Studies Organization (PSO).

Before joining the academe, she worked as a researcher for several policy research institutes and think tanks.

Assistant Professor Valenciano handles courses on Chinese Foreign Policy, International Relations, Comparative Politics, and Social, Economic, and Political Thought.
