Ruth R. Lusterio-Rico, Ph.D. is Professor of Political Science and Dean of the College of Social Sciences and Philosophy (CSSP), University of the Philippines Diliman. She was previously CSSP Associate Dean for Academic Affairs (July 2017 to August 2023) and Chairperson of the Department of Political Science (November 2010 to October 2013). Prof. Lusterio-Rico obtained her political science degrees (BA, MA, and PhD) from the University of the Philippines Diliman, where she also teaches courses in political analysis, research methods, environmental politics, and the legislative process. She has done research and published several journal articles and book chapters on environment and politics, legislative politics, indigenous peoples’ rights, and labor migration. In the summer of 2017, Professor Lusterio-Rico was Visiting Professor and Researcher at the Department of Political Science and the Center for Asian Studies, University of Montreal, Quebec, Canada. She also received formal training in the assessment of academic programs and institutions of higher learning from the ASEAN University Network Quality Assurance (AUNQA) and is an active member of the Quality Assurance Committee of UP Diliman.
